miss b loves.........shoes and a shoe wardrobe update

via

'Give a girl the right shoes and she can conquer the world'
 Marilyn Monroe

I have always had a thing about shoes(and handbags!)and I know that it runs in the family too! When I spotted this little book..........

........I had to buy it! If you too are a bit of a shoeaholic then you'll enjoy it........
It describes each iconic shoe which has had an impact going back to the 1840s Galoshes which fashionable ladies wore over their smart shoes to protect them from the dirt in the streets...

There are stilettos, Repettos, 1960s Mary Quant plastic boots.....

......platforms, Jimmy Choos, Manolo Blahnik's Mary Janes............

Even the humble flip-flop gets a mention! The book is full of little snippets of information.........and here are just a few.....
  • The name JP Tod's was actually picked out of a New York telephone directory by Italian shoemaker Diego Della Valle.
  • Christian Louboutin's crimson red soles were inspired by an employee's nail polish!
  • A doctor's ankle injury launched the 'Doc Martens' shoe which went on to become a classic British street style.
  • Stiletto is derived from the Latin stilus which means a pin or stake.
So.... I can definitely recommend this book to all shoe lovers or design enthusiasts (and there are others in the series too including - Fifty Dresses that changed the World and my next one......Fifty Handbags!!)

and finally......my shoes.......wedges, platforms, flats, heels........from the inexpensive to the sometimes extravagant ....whatever catches my eye......too many to mention here but a couple of old ones which I will never be able to take to the charity shop even though they rarely seem to come out of the box these days.......

'We suffer to be beautiful'
so true about wearing heels!

Such a quirky heel!

My most recent purchase......and such a useful colour.....never in the box!

and on my wish list.......I don't wear red but would make an exception for these.....

Textured leather BB Repettos
via

and maybe these.....(heels for evenings out......always feel more dressed up).......Manalos in grey and burgundy suede......
via

or perhaps I'll keep on looking for a more economical version! ........

via

....new boots for winter......so many options......

1 Tory Burch  or
2 Pied à Terre

and that would then complete my shoe wardrobe update!

  7. I'll never be able to sport the spike heels without risking life and limb. But it's ok, I'm already tall so I don't need the height. How about men's shoes, anything with a good heel that I could convince my husband to wear so he's taller than me? ;)
