miss b loves .........seeing the Olympic torch

Last weekend the Olympic Torch Relay passed through our area of Lancashire as part of the 8000 mile, 63 day journey through more than 1000 cities, towns and villages across the UK. (It will have travelled to within an hour of 95% of the people of the UK, Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey!)The journey began in Land's End and 8000 inspirational people have been nominated to carry the torch.


We all waited patiently but even a rain shower didn't dampen our spirits.......

The contrast between old and new Dubai is something which has always fascinated and attracted me to this unique city. The traditional souks with their inexpensive wares and the extravagant malls selling high-end luxury branded goods..... the  windtowers and the futuristic skyscrapers.....the Creek and Dubai Marina ...the old wooden abras and the millionaires' yachts......the courtyard cafés and the stylish restaurants in the most beautiful hotels.

So.... let's start with the old.....

Madeleines have been on my must-bake list for some time but I have only recently bought a mould! These buttery shell-shaped little sponge cakes traditionally flavoured with vanilla, lemon or almonds instantly remind me of France and they are so easy to make! In France they are often dipped into tea to eat.

Jubilee spirit was certainly sweeping the country last weekend and there was an invasion of all things British.... everything red, white and blue from the cheap and cheerful to the quirky, cute and  stylish! Here are a few of my Jubilee favourites..........

I read about the original TOMS shoes some time ago but recently discovered at Kim's blog that they had introduced gorgeous ballet flats. A quick visit to the TOMS website and I spotted ........WEDGES!
