miss b loves.......watching athletics at the Olympic Stadium

I mentioned here that our tickets for the Olympic Football at Old Trafford, Manchester had arrived but like many people we were still a little disappointed that we hadn't managed to buy tickets for a London event.........

Imagine my excitement when I received a phone call  to say that I had won two tickets to watch the ATHLETICS AT THE OLYMPIC STADIUM!!!!! I had entered a draw at our local BMW showroom a few weeks ago but didn't for one second expect to win......

So off we went to London last Saturday, 4th August 2012 and the city looked amazing.....

1.World flags in Regent Street
2.One of the many floral diplays

          3.John Lewis Department Store
There are 83 statues of Wenlock, the London 2012 Mascot and Mandeville, the London 2012 Paralympic Mascot and we spotted these two cute ones.....
Beefeater Mandeville
 and City Wenlock
We arrived early at the Olympic Stadium, keen to soak up the atmosphere.....All the London Ambassadors we met were so helpful and friendly and delighted to pose for photos...

My prize included Champagne and refreshments in the BMW VIP Lounge and then we were shown the new concept cars....

We soon found our seats close to the Olympic cauldron and just fifteen rows from the track - what a fantastic view of all the action!

Words can't describe the atmosphere and our excitement as the events began....
Watching so many talented athletes from so many countries was just breathtaking.

Greg Rutherford celebrates
 his Long Jump Gold
I had been looking forward to seeing Jessica Ennis in the Heptathlon 800m .......

........ and as Mo Farah completed the final laps of the Men's 10000m Final the noise and anticipation in the stadium was something I had never before experienced.....

It was a sensational evening and the three gold medals for Team GB was the icing on the cake!

So many spectators had made such an effort to support their team........

and many had travelled so far......

It was a pleasure and privilege to be part of such a happy and historic occasion......

  16. Lucky you, being able to sit right there in the midst of it all! My husband would love to be that close. He has been watching the Olympics, as he was an athlete in school. The costumes are so festive, and it shows so much spirit. I'm surprised you got so many great pictures. I think I would have just been too excited to take pictures. What a day to remember for you.
