We are so fortunate to live just over two hours away from London by train and last week I managed to spend a couple of days there..... Day 1..... a mild day with gorgeous blue skies...
The hotel was in a perfect location opposite Marble Arch and two minutes from Oxford Street and the tube station......
First port of call, my favourite department store......
....cute cushions........
and a trio of warm pastries in Café Liberty...
A quick look down South Molton Street...........
....and back on the tube to Sloane Square. I popped into the Saatchi Gallery......
and Kate Spade........
and then went in search of a certain little cake shop.... but on the way there I couldn't resist a few photos of these smart Chelsea houses....
Finally I found Peggy Porschen Boutique Bakery and Parlour in Belgravia...the prettiest little shop and just as I had imagined it to be.......
It took no time at all to choose my Champagne and Strawberry Cupcake which was so light and tasted every bit as good as it looked.......
Back to Sloane Square station via Pimlico Road past the pretty Wild at Heart florist.......
I soon arrived at the Victoria & Albert Museum........
and headed over to the Fashion Gallery which displays European fashion, fabrics and accessories from 1750 to the present day.........
In the 19th century, the 'cage crinoline' made of light steel wire replaced heavy layers of petticoats.....
These lurex platform sandals by Emma of London were retailed by Biba about 1972-73.........
After a quick lunch I went to the Light From The Middle East Photography Exhibition which I had seen advertised in the tube station......
A fascinating display by thirty photographers from thirteen countries (no photos allowed though. Click here to read more and see some of the photos)
I would love to go back to see the forthcoming 'David Bowie is' exhibition which starts on 23rd March until 28th July 2013.........
So that was Day 1 ........If you enjoyed this little tour of London then please join me for Part 2.......'floating' human statues, a stroll around Notting Hill and my search for perfectly iced biscuits!!
Love this post! Makes me want to book another trip to London! Soon! You really are soo fortunate to live just outside London, in my opinion the greatest city on earth (even though I consider Stockholm to be most beautiful:)

Looks like you had a great day in London!
ReplyDeleteI have some exhibitions to get to when I get back! Looks great especially that cake...
ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful to see my neck of the woods through someone else's eyes! And you did all of my favourite things! I used to work down the road from that Peggy Porschen bakery and it was not good for my waistline! Can't wait to see part 2!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fab day you had. I totally missed out on the shopping last time I went - I was too busy gabbing away to my bloggy acquaintances which I had the chance to meet up with and for once their company took precedence over the shopping. But next time - I am definitely going to stop by Comptoir de Cotonniers. I really would like to see their clothes close up and personal.
ReplyDeleteWow, wow, wow! How wonderful to spend a day like this! I loved taking this tour with you ;-)
ReplyDeleteWaiting for part two now! Love from Mirjam.
Hi Miss B! You just made me want to travel to London!:) Are ages from my last trip there, I really love to go there soon!:) Awesome photos, in particular I've enjoyed the Peggy Porschen boutique, the cupcake looks so good, have to remember this place:) Have a good day dear, kisses! xo
ReplyDeleteI'm so in love with London! Thank you for sharing these fascinating pictures!
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful! London is the best! It can offer so much in just a day or two. When our flights have stop-overs in London we always take a stroll in one area or the other.
ReplyDeleteGreat post miss B!
I adore Liberty! Haven't been there for a while so it's lovely to get a reminder of what it's like. And that boutique bakery looks so gorgeous! I'll have to pop in next time I'm in the city :)
ReplyDeleteGreat post!
Much love,

What a delightful "day 1" you treated yourself to. You definitely know your way around London, a favorite city of mine, and made the most of your time there. I recognized some sites and landmarks along the way and will remember this itinerary should I be lucky enough to visit a dear friend of mine in London next July. Merci, miss b. I love the quaint look of the lovely cake shop, its so pretty. Would love to visit the Fashion Gallery, sounds like a wonderful experience! Thanks for taking the time to drop by hun!
ReplyDeleteI love liberty also it is just so different to the many other high street stores
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely tour of London you had. You always go to the most interesting places. The girls visited London a few years ago and had a wonderful time. That little bakery is darling, and what delicious goodies they have. I really enjoyed looking at the dresses from the 1700's. I imagine there is a bit of history in that shop. I would have had to stop at the Wild Heart Florist too, as I adore flowers. Nel just got back from her honeymoon trip to Paris. She will post pictures soon. Be sure to stop by and see them, as I know you love to travel. Happy spring day, sweet friend.
