miss b loves Paris ......old favourites and a few new discoveries(Part 2)

I'm back from my travels ......... Vietnam and Dubai! I took so many photos that it may be a while before I'm ready to tell you about our fascinating trip. In the meantime, here is my Paris Part 2 post from last month's visit. If you missed Part 1 you can read it here

Day 2 ..... we headed down Boulevard Saint Germain to number 34 .........the original home of Diptyque candles ......

Of course I had to take one home ........

...and then we went in search of another shop ....... a chocolate shop and tea room .... to Jean Paul Hévin, the renowned chocolatier .... definitely worth a visit .....these are very special chocolate cakes!

and how realistic is this chocolate shoe in the window!

Another window caught my eye .........'I'm not a shopoholic. I'm helping the economy'........

Sunday morning seemed like the ideal time for a little culture. The Musée d'Orsay and the Orangerie are my favourite museums in Paris but we were keen to investigate a lesser known one .....the Musée Marmottan Monet, on the east side of the Bois de Boulogne. It houses the largest Monet collection in the world along with many other impressionist painters.

Monet's piece of work which gave the Impressionism art movement its name 'Impression, soleil levant' was there .......

A temporary exhibition of the work of Marie Laurencin in the basement was a bonus too .....

A wonderful museum ..... a real find, without the crowds and more relaxing than the mainstream ones.

As we walked back to La Muette metro station, I spotted a statue of Jean de La Fontaine, the poet famous for his fables. He's looking down at Le Corbeau et Le Renard (The Crow and the Fox) and it immediately took me back to my student days translating all those fables!

Now we are all used to seeing graffiti in Paris, some of it quite creative but this is the first time I've seen a graffiti covered mini! ....

Every time we visit Paris I just have to take a photo of the Eiffel Tower.....it's a kind of ritual ....so on the way back to the hotel we had to have a quick stop at Trocadéro! .....
Eiffel Towers everywhere at the station .....

and then the real one, La Tour Eiffel, the most-visited paid monument in the world......

We came across a local brasserie a few minutes walk from the hotel....Le Franc-Tireur .... with very friendly, welcoming staff...

and a classic brasserie meal....poulet-frites followed by crème caramel.....a great choice....

Finally .... just a few more Paris pics........

1.Pains aux raisins for breakfast
2. Saint-Suplice Church
3. Flower Market
4. Gorgeous Zara building on the Champs Elysées
5.Barbara Rihl window
6.Café Lacombe

It was so good to be back in Paris to revisit favourite spots and it's one of those places where there's always something new to discover...... I know we'll be back again...... A bienôt!
