Day 2 in Munich.........and a perfect temperature for strolling around the city (you can read about Day 1 here)
There are so many lovely buildings in Munich all well-maintained and even better against the beautiful blue sky.....
One of my favourite buildings was the Theatinerkirche, a Catholic church with a yellow-coloured façade built in Italian high- Baroque style...
with high-end shops and pale honey-coloured buildings......
There's no shortage of chic cafés(including Armani)in Munich but it was impossible to walk past Maelu .......
.......which had this very attractive window display.
After much deliberation, we ordered the rhubarb and meringue tart.
We were struck by the number of bicycles everywhere .....it's such a cycle and pedestrian-friendly city.........
However, I also spotted a very cute scooter..
and .....parked outside a Marc Cain store .....
.......a leopard print car!!!
We stumbled across Munich Brewers' Day with a procession of beautifully decorated brewers' carts....
Of course no visit to Munich would be complete without a visit to a beer garden.......and we chose the famous Hofbrauhaus. Inside there were men clad in lederhosen playing traditional music.....
but outside there was a lovely area with old chestnut trees and a pretty fountain...and everyone was drinking huge glasses of beer....
except me.......I ordered a crisp, dry white wine....German, of course!
Refreshing weissweine |
Then..it was back to the airport after a busy weekend of sightseeing, eating and drinking ......perfect!!

What a delightful post! Jess went to Munich three years ago and loved everything about it! I like seeing your travel pictures. The tart looks so delicious. And the leopard car is so cool. I would have loved to walk into that Catholic Church, as I am Catholic myself. The old churches are beautiful. Too bad you and Jess weren't there at the same time - you could have drank German beer together. Thank you for giving me a bit of Munich - with these pictures, I felt like I was there myself.
