PARISIAN CHIC A Style Guide by Inès de la Fressange
£19.99 (£11.04 with free delivery at Amazon!)Parisian Chic: A Style Guide by Ines de la Fressange

Model Inès de la Fressange was once the muse of Karl Lagerfeld at Chanel and is also a designer who has written this new guide to being stylish in the effortlessly chic way of so many 'Parisiennes'. I have always admired Inès as the epitome of French style and I couldn't wait to read her new book sharing many of the secrets she has accumulated throughout her time in the world of fashion.

The book has the feel of a gorgeous journal complete with its red ribbon bookmark and inside its just as creative. There's an easy to read layout with hand-written lists, beautiful photos of her equally chic daughter, Nine and Inès's quirky drawings all adding a really personal touch.
Inès's daughter, Nine, models Parisian chic style throughout  the book

One of Inès's drawings

Inès  lists her 'magnificent seven'that every wardrobe should hold(so more excuses to shop - for the missing ones!)
  • a man's style blazer
  • a trenchcoat
  • a navy v neck cashmere jumper
  • a tank-top (known as a vest top in the UK!)
  • a little black dress
  • the perfect pair of jeans
  • a leather jacket

Her tips on how to wear each of these key pieces are invaluable and her list of fashion 'faux-pas' are sure to amuse!
The book offers advice on how to prevent those impulse buys which take up wardrobe space before being taken to the charity shop:she says'don't buy a garment unless you could think of wearing it tonight - never buy it for 'sometime';don't try to look rich, it's tacky; don't wear things that are too tight, too short, or that you can't walk in; take your inspiration not from designers, but from the street - which is where designers take it from in the first place;spend half your clothing budget on basics and the other half on accessories that make them 'pop'.

However, this is not just a book about clothes. Her tips for lifelong beauty include'Be passionate about a man, a project, a house. It's an instant facelift.' As with fashion her advice on home décor is to mix it up'IKEA furniture, designer pieces and flea market finds can live together in harmony.'

One of the best sections of the book, in my opinion,is Inès's Paris('Secret' Paris)with recommended boutiques, bars, cafés, restaurants, offbeat museums and hotels- lots of hidden gems with pictures and descriptions. I'll certainly be looking out for the Musée Marmottan Monet, Bread & Roses Café and Le Bon Marché, the super-stylish department store next time I'm in Paris.Inès has even included Family Fun-a handy guide to visiting Paris with kids!

'Parisian Chic' is an absolute must for understated, sophisticated style advice and hand-picked adresses. Its so chic! So bobochic!
