We've just returned from a week in the sun ... and Dubai was certainly looking very pink this October! Breast Cancer Awarenesss Month is in full swing over there and several hotels were illuminated in pink to raise awareness for the campaign, including the iconic Burj Al Arab....
The Jumeirah Beach Hotel looked stunning in vibrant hot pink too! We stayed here during our first visit to Dubai way back in 1996! The Jumeirah Group is not only turning its hotels pink but is organising a host of special activities both in Dubai and globally too.
Across the city the number of companies and individuals getting involved is so impressive with a wide range of fundraising events advertised in Time Out Dubai magazine ........ from spa treatments to sponsored walks .......
I even spotted an advert for a pink bungee jump in the local 7DAYS newspaper but I would definitely prefer to do the sponsoring than the jumping!
You will remember from my guest post here that this is a city where there's no shortage of sweet treats and many coffee shops and cafés are taking the opportunity to raise vital funds for cancer charities in October with pink afternoon teas and delicious desserts....
'So Pink' Dessert buffet at Galéries Lafayette |
Bloomsbury's cupcakes are always so eye-catching with their intricate decorations...
Hey Sugar Bakeshop is donating a very generous 50% of the sales of their special cupcakes to charity .......
....and of course I don't need an excuse to buy cupcakes from one of my favourite places ......I was more than happy to support the cause!
The well-known French fashion brand Promod was just one of the stores showing their commitment to the campaign and has organised events across their stores in Dubai. The company has previously sponsored a number of fundraising activities in the Middle East.
I like to support stores like Promod who get involved with worthwhile causes, so here's a peek at my purchase ........ a cosy, fluffy jumper to take back to a chilly UK!
Pink ribbons were distributed to customers....
and finally ...... Friday the 25th October 2013 is 'Wear it Pink' day in the UK. It's so easy to get involved by simply wearing something pink at home, school or at work and donating £2 to help fund breast cancer research. In the last ten years more than £23 million pounds have been raised. To find out more about making the day fun, click here.
Wonderful! I think it's great that so many are getting involved, as it's such an important cause to support and reaise awareness. I also love it when companies get involved. Welcome back dear. xx/Madison

It's fabulous that they have gone 'all out' for such a worthy cause and I'm so jealous that you were able to be a part of it. I didn't know about Wear It Pink day.
