miss b loves ......... the Vogue Fashion Dubai Experience

What a stroke of luck that we happened to be in Dubai for the Vogue Fashion Experience in the Dubai Mall!

Organised by  property developers Emaar Properties and Vogue Italia, this glamorous celebration of fashion, was held for the first time in the Middle East.

I headed straight to the atrium near Bloomingdales department store .......

..... to see a very special Haute Couture collection by such iconic names as Dior, Valentino, Armani, Chanel ...........

Atelier Versace
Spring/Summer 2009

.... but this Elie Saab gown was most definitely my favourite ....

Elie Saab Haute Couture
Spring/Summer 2013

and look who I spotted as we were walking along level one .....

Donatella Versace

A host of events had been organised including catwalk shows and exhibitions and all for a good cause too ......the charity Dubai Cares which helps to improve children's access to quality primary education in developing countries.

Our next stop ..... Level Shoe District, the largest shoe store in the world which was also celebrating its first birthday with a special extravaganza 'Let The Shoe Begin' and it all looked so glitzy and glamorous .........

Dancers had been flown in from London's West End to perform different genres of dance from ballet and tap to hip-hop in each area of the store and they were all wearing amazing shoes from Level, of course.........

Solange Knowles, Beyoncé's sister entertained with her live DJ session ........

Limited edition T-shirts featuring a sketch by luxury shoe designers had been commissioned and were on sale and I was pleased to see that the full 100 dirhams (about £18) was to be donated to Dubai Cares.

So how could I resist this one by Aquazzura ...... ideal for wearing at my next Zumba class!

and I love the quote on the back..........

Throughout the mall, stores were participating in the Vogue fashion event by offering shoppers drinks and nibbles, cupcakes, entertainment and special discounts too.

The real human mannequins in Saccoor Brothers store window attracted quite a crowd. Amazing that they could be so still!

The  Waterfall Atrium was the location for the eco-friendly section. Short films and videos featured eco fashion projects such as Green Carpet by Livia Firth and Estethica by The British Fashion Council.

Later, high-profile guests including Naomi Campbell and Roberto Cavalli attended a gala fundraiser dinner at the foot of the Burj Khalifa in the Armani Pavilion followed by an auction of exclusive experiences including ........ Valentino's offer to create a unique dress with the opportunity to visit the atelier to watch the creative process. Chanel offered an invitation to the 2014 show and a visit to the private apartment of Gabrielle Chanel at 31 Rue Cambon....... Now that's what I call a very special experience!

  13. What an event but I'm disappointed : Dubaï has now the largest shoe store which I thought belonged to the Galeries Lafayette in Paris; we really have to clean up our act in France if we want to stay in the competition !xo

  15. OMG Miss B, the fashion events that you attend have just blown mine out of the water ha ha. Yours make mine look like a day in Primark. How lucky of you to be around when this event was taking place. You've captured some great images, I don't know where to start - perhaps Donatella, closely followed by Solange closely followed by the real-life models.

I love your tee, I have a tee with that quote, but I love the design on yours!

    Have a great weekend!
