Visiting London in the run up to Christmas seems to have become a tradition of ours.......The capital city has always fascinated me and there's something even more special about it during the festive period.....Last weekend we jumped on the train and just over two hours later we were welcomed by the bright lights of London, all dressed up for Christmas 2014 .......
A tree decorated with Fortnum and Mason wicker baskets at Somerset House. |
Burlington Arcade |
The Giant Observation Wheel at Winter Wonderland, Hyde Park |
Snow globes at Liberty |
Covent Garden was particularly impressive .....
....with a Father Christmas and his reindeer made out of Lego bricks!!
Carnaby Street .......
Notting Hill .....Father Christmas .... playing festive songs and Christmas carols on the steel drum and ....sacks of brussels sprouts all the way from Lancashire, our home county!
Amazing iced biscuits at Biscuiteers.......
This one had to come home with me .....
So many beautiful trees....and clear blue skies...
St Paul's Cathedral |
The tree at Trafalgar Square is a gift from the city of Oslo as a token of gratitude to the people of London for their assistance during the years 1940-1945. A tree has been given every year since 1947.
Norwegian tree at Trafalgar Square |
Something a little different outside the One Aldwych Hotel ....upsidedown trees!
Of course there was coffee ......and cakes ......
A festive gingerbread latte cupcake and a mocha at Muriel's |
....and as always we discovered a new area....Seven Dials, where seven roads converge..
So pretty at night .....
Finally a few impressive Christmas windows.....
Liberty |
Paddington at Selfridge's |
The Cambridge Satchel Company |
and festive doors ........
A hectic couple of days ..... but well worth it and the perfect way to get into the festive mood. Time to relax now and enjoy a quieter Christmas back at home ......
This year, in the lounge, the Christmas décor is gold with a touch of silver and deep red ......
Elsewhere in the house, there's a more contemporary feel with bright pops of colour........
Mince pie time ............
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas wherever you may be!
Thank you for taking the time to visit and for all your wonderful, supportive comments throughout the year.
I appreciate every single one!

See you in the New Year!
I didn't get any look at London Christmas windows this year, so it's nice to see some on your blog. Hope you are having a great Christmas time with friends and family!
ReplyDeleteLondon is one of the magical cities to visit during Christmas. Everywhere looks so magical and spectacular! Love the store windows and the Biscuiteers store. Wishing you Merry Christmas Miss B! Thank you too for all of your wonderful comments on my Blog. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteMiss B, so thankful for this post! Love London and my dream would be to visit it during the holiday season, can imagine all the lights and the beautiful decorations around the city! But your photos gave me a clear idea of it, I have heard a lot of Biscuiteers and Id like to try their treats, the one you got is utterly cute (and yummy!). I didnt know that tradition about the tree in Trafalgar Square, very nice of Oslo, that tree is impressive! The decor at your home is very sweet, I would be curious to try the mince pie but Im vegetarian, I know they do not really taste as mince though. Happy Holidays Miss B, wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Is always nice to stop by here and always know something new about the world. May the 2015 bring you many other trips and adventures! xo
ReplyDeleteLovely photos, as always! You've captured the holiday spirit in each one. Wishing you and yours a merry Christmas!

ReplyDeleteThis was absolutely beautiful Miss B. I always see pictures of London but never at Christmas time. So this was a treat! It is absolutely beautiful. I love the natural-ness of it! The wreaths, trees and topiary trees are gorgeous. I've heard of Biscuiteers. They are decorated so beautifully. I love their theme boxes. Your decorations are absolutely gorgeous Miss B. Theme ROOMS are in! I only put a wreath up this year. Getting some remodeling done, through next year. HaHaHa I love your blog. It's always a pleasant adventure. So glad you like mine :) Have a fabulous holiday!

London was obviously best prepared for Christmas! Thanks a lot for sharing so wonderful pictures. I have to admit that our small Bavarian towns are also nicely decorated for Christmas but never ever in such an impressing way :) Hopefully you had amazing holidays so far <3

Hi Miss B,
ReplyDeleteHappy belated New Year to you, I hope you're well. Oh yes, well you know I love London at Christmas too. We went on the Monday before Christmas and had a bite to eat at all the major department stores. We didn't get to see the Fortnum & Mason tree but I saw lots of piccies of it on Instagram and thought it looked amazing as did the window displays. I've always loved the history/story behind the Trafalgar Square tree. I too stopped off at the Burlington Arcade and treated myself to some Laduree macarons - always feel special on that red carpet ha ha.
It must have been great atmpsphere if I could judge from yr photos!I was never in Lindon for Christmas and I feel I must plan a trip for next year!!
ReplyDeletehow lovely! I would love to visit!

Miss b, London looks wonderful at Christmas time. So many things to see. The snow globes caught my eye, as I collect snow globes myself. Father Christmas that is made out of lego bricks is incredible! The iced biscuits look so yummy and decorated in its own special way. Your gold, silver, and red décor is so lovely. I have been decorating with silver, white, and red the last couple of years, and really like how it looks around Christmas time. Love your skinny snowman, he's adorable.
ReplyDeleteI was wondering where you've been. I really miss your sweet comments and awesome posts. I hope the new year is being good to you, and I wish you peace and lots of love in the days ahead.
~Sheri
Thanks Sheri. We had Chrismas Day at home then flew to Dubai on Boxing Day to enjoy some sunshine. I'm now getting back to a routine!
DeleteThank you for all your lovely comments and good wishes. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas.
