Happy New Year to you all! I'm finally getting back into a routine! It was such a treat to be able to escape the cold and wet weather in England to enjoy sunshine and blue skies .....
En route to Dubai on Boxing Day |
We were greeted with so many festive touches especially at The Beach with a giant Christmas tree, huge candy canes and baubles which shimmered next to the palm trees .....
The 'snowmen' on the sand were particularly cute and popular for photos too!
We had heard about the Winter Wonderland at Galeries Lafayette and there was such a variety of impressive Christmas trees but this one was definitely a favourite ......
We were curious about the snow .....
Then, sure enough, it started to snow ....in fact it snows every fifteen minutes in Winter Wonderland!
Outside though it was 25 degrees and I spotted the perfect shorts for a festive swim.....
Villebrequin reindeer swimshorts |
New Year's Eve was spent at Sapori di Bice, one of our favourite Italian restaurants ...
So many gorgeous desserts ....it was impossible to make a decision. In the end, the Manager chose a selection for us!
As the clock was about to strike twelve we headed to the beach to watch the firework display over at Atlantis, The Palm .....
New Year's Day seemed like the perfect time to watch the Burj Khalifa record-breaking light show. 70,000 LED light bulbs produced a spectacular display.....
At one point the world's tallest building was illuminated in the colours of the national flag.
A New Year message too ........memorable!
It's never too late for a cupcake and even though it was almost closing time, the staff at Magnolia Bakery were happy to ice a rose cupcake for me ......so clever!
A work of art!
Our final day had to involve one last stroll along the beach taking in the last rays of sunshine before returning to the cold!
The Burj Khalifa New Year Light Show was really impressive! Just got home from The Beach today. I will truly miss Dubai.
ReplyDeleteLove the shots especially the one on the plane, dear! Happy 2015! xoxo

ReplyDeleteBy the time it was already 2015 in Dubai, I was watching on the tv in Bucharest the fireworks and the Burj Khalifa light show. I think it was 1-2 hours till midnight. So, lucky you to have been able to see this with your own eyes! I have never celebrated Christmas or NYE at a warm place and I am sure it's very interesting! What a lovely cupcake they have made for you! I followed you on IG, happy to find you there! :)

Wow looks like you had an awesome time in Dubai :)
ReplyDeleteHi Miss b, Thank you for your comment on my blog. It is fun to relive the Christmas and new year season again. I'm awed by the lightshow on the building. Must have been really spectacular. The desserts look delectable and how skilful of the guy to ice a rose on your cupcake. Dubai is a great place to spend the new year from what I can see. It is great to bask in warmth and sunshine while you can. As I'm typing this, my hubby is on the plane to London to attend a conference and he would be there for 1 week. I hope that he would be able to brace the cold as I've read from many sources that the winter in London this year is really harsh.

It wasn't too cold in the weeks before Christmas but we do seem to be having a cold spell at the moment. Plenty of layers needed!
DeleteHappy New Year again! Thanks for your message miss b. And thank you for following me back on Instagram. I'm loving your photos :) I think staycation will be the theme this year. I won't be back in Dubai for a while, so I'll be visiting vicariously through you. My sister celebrated New Year's there with my family. I haven't welcomed the new year yet in Dubai. Hoping to do that one day. Thank you for sharing your trip! Have a good week ahead.
ReplyDeleteDubai is such an interesting place of luxury and culture.
ReplyDeleteThe snowmen on the sand looks fabulous
and I think I haven't seen anything like it yet
it is such a cool idea.
And having snow not only in the cold countries
is pretty rad.
Your pics are always amazing and even though
the holidays are over this post of yours made me wish
that the holidays are longer.
Happy New Year to you as well miss b. You were much missed, I'm happy to know that you thoroughly enjoyed your holidays. The capture of the sky and clouds are amazing. A wonderful way indeed to bring in the new year. Dubai is definitely on our list again, and your recommendations will be used. xx/Madison

I'm so pleased that you will one day be able to make use of my recommendastions, Madison. Thank you!
DeleteOh miss b, your trips to Dubai are so interesting and full of life! What a better way to start the new year off. That camel in the sand is so sweet just sitting there in the sand. And it snowed there, how wonderful. Oh, how I wish it would snow here. That pink rose cupcake IS a work of art. And the tall buildings are dazzling with color, so pretty. Thanks for taking me along with you on your trips. Come by tomorrow if you get a chance to see my "bring lovely back" post. I think you may like it, as you are one of the most lovely women here in blogland.

I shall definitely pop over to read your new post tomorrow and thank you very much Sheri for your kind words!
DeleteIt did snow in Dubai but it was actually a snow machine in Winter Wonderland but it was still fun!
Oh my goodness Miss B. If I didn't like you i'd negatively envy you ha ha. This is so truly stunning and it has always been on my things to do list to be somewhere over the festive period that is 20 degrees plus. Well I thought I'd seen it all until the photo of the snowmen and Christmas tree on the beach - that is beyond cool and that light show must have been (well it looks it) spectacular! Oooh they have Magnolia Bakery - I thought that was only in New York, I didn't realise it was a chain yum yum - weren't you a luck girl.
ReplyDeleteI wondered why you were not on Instagram - with your travels you'd have a very interesting account. I will come and find you.
Thank you! Hope you like my account.
