I love sleek, minimalist cafés ( Chocolat Chic and Hey Sugar, formerly Sugar Daddy's are two of my favourites) but when Shakespeare and Co opened a new branch in Dubai Marina Mall with panoramic views of the Marina I couldn't wait to pay them a visit. The Victorian-inspired décor and vibrant colours create an Alice in Wonderland feel with quirky chandeliers and ornaments.

There's an eclectic menu with a wide range of soups, sandwiches and main meals including dishes such as chicken with tiger prawns. The drinks selection is huge with fresh juices, soya smoothies and various coffees and teas (Moroccan, jasmine, flowering ...) We just could not resist the cakes for which they are renowned - a profiterole tart for mr b and a strawberry tart for me - both absolutely delicious.....
Next time I'll try one of the frozen desserts. |
........and friendly, professional staff just add to the warm ambiance! Highly recommended!!
Beautiful photos! Thanks for sharing:)

Well let's see. The Café is in Dubai. The name is English. Most pastries are French. A cosmopolitan place. I like that. Maybe one day if I ever visit Dubai... Thanks for making us dream in the meantime. Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)

I have to say I am a fan1 I love the colours!
ReplyDeleteThis looks divine! I love these pictures - there is so much life and culture to them. Color and classic art every which way you look.
ReplyDeleteI've been to Dubai as well and what I love most about it is how it doesn't try to be one way, or box itself in as anything in particular. Dubai looks like an explosion of so many cultures. While it may not embrace them all entirely, it certainly has them on display for all to partake in. :)
Very inspiring pictures. They make me nostalgic.
Please do pay me a visit so that we might follow one another :)
